Mt. Vernon Manor Apartments Phase I and II Housing Rehabilitation (2012-2017)
The first phase of the We Are Mantua! plan’s implementation consisted of the renovation of seventy-five Mt. Vernon Manor Apartments units throughout five buildings, including four units with wheelchair accessibility. The newly renovated apartment community features a new all-purpose community room and a laundry facility. Mt. Vernon Manor Phase I construction was completed October 2013 with city funding and Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency tax credits. The second phase of the plan aimed to renovate an additional forty eight units of affordable housing, a process that began in late 2015 and concluded in January 2017. Phase II construction was supported by Philadelphia’s Division of Housing and Community Development and Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency preservation tax credits. The ongoing revitalization of Mt. Vernon Manor Apartments, as well as the surrounding Mantua neighborhood, represents a significant step towards achieving the vision set forth during the planning process by the area’s residents and key stakeholders.
