https://mvmcdc.org/programs/affordable-housing/Mt. Vernon Manor CDC has been a trusted provider of affordable housing in West Philadelphia for over 40 years. When local leaders formed the Mt. Vernon Manor CDC in 1977, its primary purpose was to provide safe, high-quality affordable housing to Mantua.
Currently operating 125 units in Mt. Vernon Manor I & II and Mantua Preservation. In 2025, MVM in partnership with Lomax Enterprises has brought in 75 rental units at Wallace Flats with preparation underway to offer 40 more rental units in partnership with HopePHL on North 40th Street in 2026!
In Early 2026, MVMCDC will introduce an option to buy one of (4) new construction 2 Bedroom 2 Bath homes on Shedwick Street under a community land trust model that preserves affordability, prevents displacement and helps community residents with lower income build generational wealth.

Mt. Vernon Manor’s mission is to provide affordable housing, encourage residents to nurture caring families, and champion a robust and sustainable environment and quality of life in West Philadelphia.
Mt. Vernon Manor strives to cultivate safe and accessible West Philly neighborhoods for both longtime and newly arrived residents by pursuing strategic projects and partnerships that advance affordable housing opportunities, cultivate green and open space, enhance economic mobility, and improve public health and safety in our communities. We aim to help residents realize a shared vision of equitable development without displacement and ensure that our community remains diverse, inclusive, and welcoming to all.

The Mt. Vernon Manor CDC (MVM NAC) is committed to serving the West Philadelphia communities of Mantua, Powelton and East Parkside by connecting residents to the services and programs that best address their needs. Resources Include:
Weekly Food Pantry every Wednesday 9AM sign in to receive fresh and non-perishable food, beverage and kitchen essential items from our partners at Eat Right Philly, Share Food, Philabundance and Mantua Urban Peace Garden.
Housing Assistance grants for mortgages, rent, utilities and property taxes funded by partnerships with LISC and Mantua Powelton Alliance.
Connection to City Programs and Services such as DHS, Community Legal Services (CLS), SNAP/EBT, LIHEAP, CRP, Basic Home Repair, Property Tax and Rent Rebates, Tangled Titles/Foreclosures, Philly311, 16th District Police, Emergency Preparedness, Public Transportation and more!
